My superpower is helping nonprofits, advocacy campaigns, small businesses and individuals clearly express who they are, what they do, and why you should care.

With over 25 years of experience across high-stakes persuasion environments, I ensure clients see an ROI on communications. My innovative and implementable strategic communications systems empower clients to boost engagement, fundraising, sales, stakeholder enthusiasm, internal cohesion and team efficiency.

Together, we will move your audience to action.

Strategic Communications for Growth

Impact ≠ Engagement

Your organization does incredible work with important, measurable impact—but your communications are not hitting the mark.

Whether you measure success in donations, volunteers, enrollees, email opens, clicks or social engagement, the numbers need improvement.

But how? It's not always easy to diagnose the problem…

Is your messaging persuasive? Do you need clearer calls to action, or better images? Are you sending enough emails, or too many? What type of content will excite your audience? Do your materials reflect your mission? Analyzing data and feedback can be overwhelming.

Whether your goal is to reach new donors, demographics, geographic areas, or supporters, messaging has to feel authentic, meaningful, and compelling. What you say in Miami won’t necessarily land in Milwaukee.

Internal communications teams are often stretched thin managing daily tasks, and can lack the strategic expertise, creativity and vision to tackle these problems.

That’s where I come in.

My Philosophy

My communications philosophy is that:

Everything is persuasion.

The central question all communications must answer is:

“Why should I care?”

Stating that your mission has intrinsic value isn’t enough: many organizations provide urgently needed programs and services with measurable impact.

The competition for support and engagement is fiercer than ever. To break through, audiences must form an emotional connection that turns a worthy cause into a personal mission.

The right messaging transforms strangers into donors, advocates, participants and volunteers: people who care.

Services

My clients are often navigating:

  • subpar audience engagement

  • organizational growth or restructuring

  • fundraising expansion

  • leadership transition

  • advocacy campaigns

  • rebranding or public repositioning

  • lackluster creativity and innovation

Engagements are structured around organizational readiness, timeline, and scope, and range from 90 Day Reboots to ongoing advising.

About Me

I may be the only communications strategist with a successful art career.

From strategy to sculpture, I find unexpected and compelling ways to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.

Art is a form of communication, and deeply informs my understanding of how to harness design, imagery, symbolism, storytelling, emotional resonance and perception for clients.

I’ve worked with Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, advocacy campaigns, small businesses, electoral candidates, and individual creatives to build meaningful growth and visibility.

I bring decades of real-world experience in web and graphic design, copywriting, branding, PR, community organizing, advocacy and artmaking to craft holistic strategies for clients looking for real improvements in revenue, engagement, and brand awareness.

As Co-Founder and Lead Strategist of True Blue NY, I helped build a statewide coalition of more than 70 organizations to flip control of the New York State Senate, contributing to the passage of major legislation on voting rights, criminal justice reform, climate, abortion access, education funding, and civil rights. In 2019, we built the NY People’s Platform in collaboration with Common Cause, Citizen Action, NAACP, Make the Road, Food and Water Watch, VOCAL-NY and many other advocacy organizations.

My political Communications Strategy clients include candidates for NY City Council, NY State Assembly and the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2020, I led communications for the winning re-election campaign of NY State Assembly Member Diana Richardson, currently Director of Statewide Engagement for NY State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.

"Mia was the Communications Strategist on my 2021 campaign for New York City Council, where she provided invaluable insight into messaging, policy and voter persuasion. Mia is creative, pragmatic, professional and efficient. It's always a pleasure to work with her."

As a sculptor, I’ve exhibited internationally in museums, galleries, and nonprofit institutions, with commissions for clients like Liberty Mutual, MTA Arts and Design, Hermès, MGM, PwC and the Hospital for Special Surgery.

My work has been included in over 25 books on contemporary art, and featured in The New York Times, the Boston Globe, New York Magazine, Elle Decor, the New Yorker, and on tv and radio.

I adore bringing people together for the greater good. In 2025, I founded the PUBLIC ART PARTY, a hugely successful community-building event for people across the public art ecosystem. I also write INSIDE/OUTSIDE, a newsletter covering “hot topics” in public art. These are labors of love, just for the fun of it.

My unique blend of creativity, narrative precision and strategic thinking shapes perception, builds momentum, and persuades audiences to care enough to act.
